LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 26, 2012) – The Saint Francis University football team named its team awards Monday for its 44-24 season ending victory against Sacred Heart.
Following wins this season head coach
Chris Villarrial and his staff named team awards singling out student-athletes who posted excellent weeks. The awards include the traditional offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week but also the awards single out members of the scout team that helped SFU to a victory.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
John Kelly (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora)
Playing in his final game as a member of the Red Flash, Kelly earned multiple weekly awards for his performance against Sacred Heart. The native of Frederick, Md. threw three touchdown passes and also did excellent work running the football. He spearheaded a ground game that totaled 344 yards against the Pioneers. The senior signal caller rushed 29 times for 187 yards and one touchdown. Kelly finished the game responsible for 245 yards of total offense (58 pass, 187 rush) and four touchdowns (3 pass, 1 rush). He went 6-of-12 passing for 58 yards in his final collegiate contest.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bishop Neal (Clairton, Pa./Clairton)
Neal closed out his sophomore campaign on a high note against the Pioneers. The Clairton, Pa. native recorded eight tackles, including five solo stops and two pass break ups. Also in the game Neal recovered a fumble early in the first quarter and forced and recovered another one early in the fourth quarter. Both fumble recoveries set up the offense to march down the field for two field goals. |

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Josh Thiel (Leesburg, Va./Heritage)
Thiel became SFU's all-time leader in field goals made, PATs and career points after connecting on 3-of-3 field goal attempts. The Virginia native generated successful kicks from 21, 23 and 31 yards out and added five extra point makes as well. Thiel also kicked off and averaged 59.4 yards a kickoff and registered one touchback. He received a national honorable mention from the College Football Performance Awards for his play against the Pioneers. |

Offensive Scout Team
The entire offensive scout team receives recognition this week for the work they did in preparing the Red Flash defense for Sacred Heart's offensive attack. SFU held the Pioneers to just three points in the first half and collected eight pass break ups, three QB hurries and an interception. |

DEFENSIVE SCOUT TEAM PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Corey Leonard (/)
Leonard posed as a member of the Sacred Heart defensive line and prepped the SFU offense for a defensive attack that ranked first in the Northeast Conference in pass defense. The Pioneers also brought in a defense that ranked well ahead of the rest of the league in sacks, but the Flash offensive line allowed SHU to get to the quarterback just once in the game. |

HIT OF THE WEEK
Bishop Neal (Clairton, Pa./Clairton)
In this week's edition of the Hit of the Week, Neal plants a more than solid hit on Sacred Heart's Greg Moore on a kickoff return early in the fourth quarter. The hit caused Moore to fumble the ball, which Neal also fell on to recover. That set up the offense to charge downfield for a 31-yard field goal.
