LORETTO, Pa. (Dec. 1, 2012) - The Saint Francis University men's track and field team opened its 2012-13 schedule at the Bucknell University Bison Opener, there was no team scoring at the event.
Freshman
Daryian Miles (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) had a strong debut as he took fourth place in the 300-meter dash with a time of 36.23. Miles also finished eighth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.09.
Freshman
Trevor Shuler (Macon, Ga./Jones County) also had an impressive collegiate opener as he placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.91. Shuler also finished 13
th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.17.
Freshman
Purcell Freeman (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) grabbed a 13
th place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.07.
In the field events, freshman
Ryan Steinbugl (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.50-meters (14 feet, 9 inches). The mark was the second best in SFU history in the pole vault.
“It was a very good meet for us, both teams competed well and I was impressed with the competitive fire they displayed throughout the day,” head coach Doug Hoover said. “We had some significant individual performances and the freshman class has a serious impact today.”
“Overall it was a good opening meet for us, but there is still room for improvement.”
Saint Francis will be back in action Jan. 5 at the Penn State Relays.
