FULL RESULTS
LORETTO, Pa. (Dec. 1, 2012) - The Saint Francis University women's track and field team opened its 2012-13 schedule at the Bucknell University Bison Opener, there was no team scoring at the event.
The Red Flash sprinters had a very strong afternoon, led by
Maura Jones (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge) and
Brittany Johnson (Vienna, Va./George C. Marshall) who both picked up individual wins. Jones grabbed a first place finish in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:17.01. Johnson earned a victory in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.95. Johnson also earned a fourth place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.82.
SFU won the women's 400-meter relay with a time of 4:01.11. The team included
Maura Jones (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge),
Nicole Leach (New Enterprise, Pa./Northern Bedford),
Brittany Padmore (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia), and
Alexis Hurd (Manchester, Md./North Carroll).
Alexis Hurd (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) earned a second place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.76. In the 300-meter run, Hurd grabbed a second place finish with a time of 41.06.
Nicole Leach (New Enterprise, Pa./Northern Bedford) earned a fifth place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.25.
Brittany Padmore (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) also recorded a sixth place finish in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:20.95.
Freshman
Megan Gould (Sidman, Pa./Forest Hills) registered a sixth place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.60.
In the field events, freshmen
Jordan Collins (Bayport, N.Y./Bluepoint) and
Ivona Mikulic (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) had impressive collegiate debuts. Collins placed sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.23-meters (46 feet, 8.25 inches). In the shot put, Collins finished in fourth place with a mark of 12.13-meters (39 feet, 9.75 inches). Mikulic grabbed a fifth place finish in the shot put with a 12.00-meter mark (39 feet, 4.50 inches). In the weight throw, Mikulic placed in eighth with a mark of 13.21-meters (43 feet, 4.25 inches).
Kaitlyn Witucki (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands Senior) earned a ninth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 10.19-meters (33 feet, 5.25 inches).
“It was a very good meet for us, both teams competed well and I was impressed with the competitive fire they displayed throughout the meet,” head coach Doug Hoover said. “We had some significant individual performances and the freshman class has a serious impact today.”
“Overall it was a good opening meet for us, but there is still room for improvement.”
Saint Francis will be back in action Jan. 5 at the Penn State Relays.
