Harbridge Named to All-Purpose/Kickoff Returner Award Watch List

LORETTO, Pa. (July 2, 2012)Kyle Harbridge (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) of the Saint Francis University football team, earned a spot on the College Football Performance Awards All-Purpose/Kickoff Returner Watch List, Monday.

Harbridge becomes the first Red Flash player this season named to two College Football Performance Awards watch lists after being placed on the running back list back in May. The senior also repeats as a member of the all-purpose/kickoff returner watch list after earning the same honor prior to the 2011 season.

“Kyle is a great player who, works hard every day and earns all the attention he receives,” head football coach Chris Villarrial said. “He posted excellent numbers last season and truly deserves all the preseason buzz he has received.”

A native of Easton, Pa., Harbridge received honorable mention Preseason All-American honors last week from the Beyond Sports College Network. Last season as a junior, Harbridge rushed for a school single-season record of 1,474 yards while also breaking single-season school records for rushing touchdowns (14), all-purpose yards (1,950) and points (90). Harbridge also became the Saint Francis career leader in kick return yards (1,293) and kick return average (24.8). After starting his career as a third stringer, Harbridge returns for his senior season third in the nation among active players in yards per play and fifth nationally in yards per game. Harbridge stands fifth among active Football Championship Subdivision players in career kickoff returns for touchdown and first among active Northeast Conference players. Harbridge also ranks as the active NEC leader in yards per carry and kick return average.

The Red Flash opens the season Sept. 1 with a road game at James Madison.  Saint Francis opens its home slate against Bryant on Sept. 8 at DeGol Field.
