Ryan Kennedy (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) led the Saint Francis men's cross country team at the 2013 D-I Mid-Atlantic Regional meet Friday afternoon. The men improved two places from last year, placing 22nd in a talented field of runners. All seven Red Flash runners set lifetime bests in the 10k.

Saint Francis's top three runners finished within six seconds of each other pacing the Flash at the Regional meet. Kennedy placed 106th besting his performance in 2011 by 37 spots, while
Christopher Fischer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) worked with Kennedy throughout the race placing one spot behind him. He bested his 2012 showing by six spots. Senior
Christopher DeLaney (Leeper, Pa./Venango Catholic) completed the front back of Frankies, running a career-best 32:56 in the 10k, while topping last year's performance by 27 places.
"Today was a great day for the team," said Fischer. "It was a fantastic to be able to run with a big group of my teammates during the race, and then finish together the way we did."
Kyle Penney (Newmarket, Ontario, Canada/Sacred Heart Catholic) finished 29 seconds behind the SFU lead pack, besting last year's efforts by 20 places. Penney was followed by
Gordon Phipps III (Oil City, Pa./Oil City),
Shaun Allen (Forestville, Md. /Forestville), and
Herbert Stelly (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) who all posted personal bests.
Saint Francis made their presence known at the Regional meet by beating all of the Northeast Conference teams.
The Red and White return to action Nov. 23 at the IC4A/ECAC Championship in Bronx, N.Y.
