Bronx, N.Y. – (Nov. 23, 2013) The Saint Francis men's cross country team ended their season Saturday with an 11th place finish at the 105th IC4A / 29th ECAC Cross Country Championships.
Ryan Kennedy (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area),
Kyle Penney (Newmarket, Ontario, Canada/Sacred Heart Catholic), and
Christopher Fischer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) finished within four seconds of each other establishing a strong front pack for the Red Flash. Kennedy led the group, 26:46, followed closely by Penney, 26:47, with Fischer finishing three second behind Penney.
"It was good to end a strong season on a high note," said head coach
Douglas Hoover. "Our program made significant strides this season and laid the foundation for the future."
Senior
Christopher DeLaney (Leeper, Pa./Venango Catholic) completed his cross country career at Saint Francis with a solid 56th overall finish, 27:06.
Shaun Allen (Forestville, Md. /Forestville) rounded out the top five for the Frankies finishing the 8k, 28:13.
"I'm so happy and proud of our graduating seniors," said coach Hoover. "We're grateful to them for all that they have sacrificed for their teams and teammates."
The Saint Francis men's cross country team returns to action next fall.
