Flash to Host Bowling Green in CIT First Round

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis men's basketball team will host Bowling Green on Tuesday night in the first round of the College Insiders.com Postseason Tournament (CIT), the organization announced Thursday. Bowling Green's 20-11 record under first-year head coach Chris Jans is the Falcons' first 20-win season since the 2001-02.

Tuesday's game at DeGol Arena, slated for a 7 p.m. tipoff, features two teams that lead their respective conferences in scoring defense. The Flash allows just 64 points per game, fewest in the NEC. Bowling Green allows just 61.9 points, fewest in the MAC.

"Coach Jans has done a great job in his first year there," Saint Francis head coach Rob Krimmel said. "They're a great defensive team that comes from a conference that is well respected across the country."

MAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-MAC First Team selection Richaun Holmes leads the Falcons. He leads the conference in blocked shots and in field-goal percentage and is third in rebounds per game. The Flash is led by All-NEC First Team pick Earl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter). He's the NEC leader in field-goal percentage, second in double-doubles and third in rebounding. Brown was also named to the NEC All-Tournament team for his performances in the Flash's two games.

Tickets are currently on sale and cost $15 for the red seats, $10 for general admission and $5 for children. Saint Francis students will be admitted free of charge. Current season ticket holders have until noon on Friday to secure their regular seats.

The first 400 Saint Francis students will receive a special St. Patrick's Day themed SFU Basketball t-shirt.

Saint Francis is coming off its first winning regular season in 10 years and owns victories over America East regular season champion Albany, Duquesne and Big Ten member Rutgers. The victory for the Flash over the Dukes is the first since 1990, and the Flash became the first Northeast Conference team to defeat a Big Ten team when it won at Rutgers on Dec. 20.

The Flash went on to a fifth-place finish in the NEC, its best in 10 years. The Flash defeated Mount St. Mary's in the NEC quarterfinals before falling at top-seeded St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday. The Flash has reached the NEC semifinals in consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.

The Red Flash (16-15) will host its first postseason game since an NCAA Tournament play-in game in 1991, a 70-64 victory over Fordham.
