Ebensburg, PA- The Saint Francis Red Flash women's golf team was edged in a dual match on Thursday by the Niagara Purple Eagles in a match held at the Ebensburg Country Club.

The Purple Eagles bested the Red Flash by five strokes, earning the 323-328 victory. Red Flash senior
Haley Borkovich (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) was the low score of the match, shooting a 76 to lead the way. Borkovich led the match with two birdies and was the leader in both par-3 and par-4 scoring, playing those holes each at one-over par on the round and totaled 10 pars on Thursday.

Kelsey Patterson (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) was next in scoring for the Red Flash, shooting an 82 on Thursday. The sophomore carded nine pars on her round and played the par-5s quite well, shooting two-over on the lengthy holes. Senior
Taylor Krout (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) shot an 84 on Thursday to finish third for the Red Flash. Krout ended the round with seven-straight pars and led the match by playing the par-5s at even par. Junior
Desiree Razon (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) rounded out the team scoring for the Red Flash as the junior shot an 86 on Thursday. Razon played the par-3s and par-5s well during the round, playing them at one-over and two-over, respectfully.

Also, scoring for the Red Flas, were Nikki Diluvio and
Madison Krug (Loretto, Pa./Penn Cambria) who each shot 87,
Samantha Weber (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy) who shot 89 and
Abbey Richards (Dunlo, Pa. /Forest Hills) who shot 92. Weber played the par-3s well, playing them at two-over on the day, while Richards played the length par-5s well at four over on the day. Krug also played the par-5s well at three over while Diluvio checked in with eight pars on the round.

The match served as a tune-up for the Red Flash for the Northeast Conference championships. The three-day event will start next Friday in Daytona Beach, Florida.
