St. Louis, MO- The Saint Francis women's bowling team is ready to take on McKendree University in the first NCAA Tournament match on Thursday. The matchup will be played at Tropicana Lanes in Richmond Heights, MO. This is the first time in program history that the Red Flash will participate in the NCAA National Tournament.

The Red Flash, led by head coach
Tom Falbo, opened the NCAA Tournament play in game with a 2-0 series win over Bowie State last Saturday at the Holiday Bowl in Altoona, Pa. SFU jumped out to an early lead as they won 911-698 during traditional match play, then a 5-0 win during baker match play.

Britney Grey (Cattaraugus, N.Y./Cattaraugus Little Valley Central ) and
Emma Wrenn (Arlington Heights, ILL. /John Hersey ) made a huge impact for the Red Flash as they took down Bowie State in the play in game. Grey knocked down 209 pins while Wrenn chipped in with 190. Juniors
Haley Carroll (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South),
Sarah Littleton (Round Lake Beach, Ill./Grayslake North) and
Kyra Udziela (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) also helped power the Red Flash to victory as Carroll knocked down 159 pins, Littleton bashed 158, and Udziela thumped 181.

About the Bearcats
McKendree Bearcats enters its third consecutive NCAA Tournament with a 91-25 overall record and captures its first Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship with a victory over the University of Central Missouri. The Bearcats will look to defend its National Championship from last season behind Co-Coach of the Year Shannon O'Keefe and MIAA Bowler of the Year Sarah Willie. Jessica Mellott, Breanna Clemmer and Taylor Bailey also made a big contribution to the Bearcats success this season.
