ERIE, Pa. – The Saint Francis men's and women's tennis teams made the quick trip to Mercyhurst on Friday evening. The Red Flash women (3-5) beat the Mercyhurst women (0-2) by a 4-3 margin while the Red Flash men (1-8) fell to the Mercyhurst men (1-1) by a 5-2 mark. The women earned four singles points while the men earned one singles point in addition to claiming the doubles point.

SINGLES
Saint Francis earned all four of its points in singles matches, winning at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Anouk Ma-Ajong began singles competition with a win at No. 2 singles in straight sets over Tsagkaraki, 6-4, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Nagisa Miyake beat Gordon by 6-2 and 6-1 marks. Romina Cutipa won her No. 4 singles match against Theodora, 6-4, 6-2.

Dominque Yeo prevailed over Jahr in three sets in No. 1 singles to secure the win for the Red Flash. Yeo lost the first set 6-1 but bounced back to take set two by a 7-5 margin and set three, 7-6.

At No. 5 singles, Marie Discini fell in three sets to Budin. Discini lost the first set, 6-0, before winning set two 6-2. Discini dropped a 6-2 third-set decision.

DOUBLES
Yeo and Cutipa won at No. 1 doubles over Tsagkaraki and Lewis, shutting out Mercyhurst 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, Ma-Ajong and Miyake lost by a 6-4 margin against Jahr and Gordon as Mercyhurst earned the doubles point.

SINGLES
Samuel Ghigiarelli picked up the Red Flash singles point at No. 6 singles in a marathon match against Dykemo. Ghigiarelli won the first set, 6-4, before Dykemo won set two by a 7-5 margin. The two went back in forth in set three before Ghigiarelli prevailed, 13-11, to earn the point.

At No. 1 singles, Sebastian Pinos pushed the match to three sets but ultimately lost to Akinpetide. Pinos dropped the first set, 6-3, before going on to win set two by the same margin. Akinpetide earned the point for Mercyhurst with a 6-4 victory in set three.

Christian Banti kept his No. 4 singles match against Plasheski close but lost by 7-5 and 6-3 margins. Andrew Teixeira fell at No. 2 singles and Jordi Garcia at No. 5 singles in straight sets, both losing 6-2 in each set. Daniel Vinces lost his No. 3 singles match to Jonkovic, 6-1, 6-4.

DOUBLES
Saint Francis earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Garcia and Ghigiarelli wrapped up their match at No. 3 doubles first with a 6-2 win over Richards and Plasheski. Pinos and Teixeira followed with a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Vinces and Banti fell to Sklyarov and Gonzalenz at No. 2 doubles by a 6-3 mark.
 
UP NEXT
The Red Flash men and women each compete against Bucknell to finish the weekend. The SFU men travel to Bucknell on Saturday for a 6 p.m. match while the SFU women play at Bucknell on Sunday at 1 p.m.
