Saint Francis Men's Golf Competes In Second Round Of NEC Championships

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Jackson Hoey (Sewickley, Pa.) shot a five-over-par round to notch the best round for Saint Francis in the second round of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Men's Golf Championships on Saturday.
>> Nathan Godbout (St. George, Vt.) ranks as the highest-ranked player with a 33rd-place standing heading into the final round.
>> The Red Flash sits in 11th place.

FLASH MOMENTS
After shooting a team-best 75 in the first round, Godbout has a two-round score of 156 and is in 33rd place. He registered 11 pars in the second round and has three birdies and 22 pars in the first two days of his third NEC Championships.

Hoey shot even par on the first nine holes thanks to three birdies (four, seven, eight) and three pars. The senior finished the back nine with four pars to post a five-over-par total of 77 in the second round. He sits in 39th place with a two-round score of 157. Hoey is playing in his second league championships and has six birdies and 15 pars through 36 holes.

Hunter Jurica (Derry, Pa.) (44th place, 160), Lukas Cascino (Johnstown, Pa.) (44th place, 161), and Trent Meyers (Altoona, Pa.) (48th place, 167) rounded out the Red Flash players. 

Jurica carded two birdies on four and 17 with seven pars in the second round to go into the final round with three birdies and 16 pars. Cascino notched a birdies on 12 and 10 pars on Saturday to register two birdies and 21 birdies through 36 holes. Meyers posted seven pars in the second round and has two birdies and 15 pars in the first two days. The trio are making their first NEC Championships appearance.

Howard leads the event, entering the final round with a two-round score of 561, seven strokes ahead of LIU (568). Sacred Heart (580), Binghamton (599), Le Moyne (599), FDU (603), North Carolina Central (604), Wagner (609), Merrimack (615), UMES (631), and Saint Francis (634) rounded out the 11-team field after two rounds. The Flash shot a 315 in the first round and a 319 in the second round. 

NEXT TIME ON THE GREEN
Paired with UMES for the third straight day, the Red Flash will compete in the final round starting on the 10th tee. Meyers will be the first on the course at 7:50 a.m., followed by Cascino (8 a.m.), Jurica (8:10 a.m.), Hoey (8:20 a.m.), and Godbout (8:30 a.m.).
