LORETTO, Pa. – For the second consecutive spring, the Saint Francis University spring teams posted 75 percent of its student-athletes on the Northeast Conference (NEC) Academic Honor Roll. Saint Francis had 145 of its 193 spring athletes named to the list for having a 3.20-grade point average or better, and 56 student-athletes earned NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll status for boasting a 3.75-grade point average or better.
 
Men's tennis had 100 percent of its roster named to the list, with all 10 players earning a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average. Women's tennis was not far behind, with 10 of its 11 selected for 90.9 percent. Women's lacrosse (86.4 percent), women's outdoor track and field (80.8 percent), women's golf (80.0 percent), softball (76.4 percent), and men's volleyball (73.0 percent) also posted over 70 percent mark as a team. 
 
Women's outdoor track and field also had 46.8 percent of its roster named to the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll with 22 selections. Softball registered over 50 percent of its roster on the Commissioner's Honor Roll with nine honorees. Men's volleyball had 47.1 percent thanks to eight selections, and men's golf led the way in percentage with 60.0 percent thanks to six of 10 making the cut. Six student-athletes had a 4.0 grade-point average.
 
Women's outdoor track and field led the way with 38 selections to the NEC Academic Honor Roll, followed by women's lacrosse (19), men's volleyball (19), men's outdoor track and field (18), softball (13), men's golf (10), men's tennis (10), women's tennis (10), and women's golf (8).
 
In addition, softball's Rachel Marsden (Erie, Pa.) and men's volleyball's Peyton Blain (men's volleyball) receive NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for their sports. That brings this year's total to four after Tom Schellbach (men's soccer) and Lauren Persichetty (women's soccer) earned honors in the fall. The selections are the most since the 2017-18 season when the Red Flash had five honorees.
 
Saint Francis is the only NEC school to have earned an NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year every year since the award's inception in 2003-04, winning a total of 80 honors in that span.
 
Marsden becomes the 14th different Saint Francis to win the honor twice and the 18th time it has happened in program history. Marsden is the second softball player to take home the recognition, joining former teammate Mekenzie Saban after he honors the two previous seasons before Marsden. Blain is the first men's volleyball player to receive the honor in the second year the league has sponsored the sport.
 
With the 145 student-athletes named to the Spring Academic Honor Roll, Saint Francis had 383 recognitions for the 2023-24 season after 134 in the fall and 104 in the winter. In addition, Saint Francis had 177 nods for the Commissioner's Honor Roll (71 fall, 50 winter, 56 spring).
