Saint Francis University men's swimming head coach Phil Hurley has announced the first official men's swimming signing in program history. Thomas Corcoran (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) is the men's first swimming athlete to commit for the inaugural Red Flash season for the 2026-27 campagn.

"We are ecstatic over Thomas' decision to join the initial class of men's swimming at Saint Francis University," said Hurley, who is in his seventh season as the women's swimming head coach and was named the first-ever Red Flash men's swimming head coach in June. "He has all of the qualities that we want from our student-athletes, and we could not be more proud that he is the first commitment in the team's history. This is a great first step for the program!"

Corcoran, a two-year letter winner at Central Cambria, helped his team win the District 6 Championship as a junior and was a member of the winning 400-yard relay team. He finished sixth in the 100-yard backstroke, seventh in the 50-yard free, and fifth in the 200-meter freestyle relay. Corcoran's winning 400-yard relay team qualified for the PIAA State Meet. Additionally, at the Laurel Highland Championships, Central Cambria finished second in team score, and individually Corcoran was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke.

"I have always grown up around Saint Francis with my two brothers attending the university and my mother working here, and I have always really liked it," said Corcoran. "With the announcement of the introduction of men's swimming, it solidified that I wanted to come to Saint Francis for my collegiate career."

Corcoran's mother, Kristen, earned her Master's in Education and Leadership from Saint Francis in 2005. She has worked at the university since 2005 and is currently the Director of Student Engagement and Leadership Development.

"It's a huge honor to be the first men's swimming commitment," said Corcoran. "Saint Francis is family and a warm, welcoming community, and it's very exciting to be a part of this program."

Saint Francis announced on June 19 that it would be adding men's swimming as its 23rd intercollegiate sport for the 2026-27 season as part of its NCAA Division III transition and will join the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

"Coach Hurley has dreams when we are eligible, my junior year to win a championship, and I am excited to be a part of that crew that could make it possible," said Corcoran.
