STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Saint Francis women's golf comes away Monday afternoon with a third place finish at the Toftrees Invitational in State College, Pa., Sunday and Monday.
Ellie Filer claims first place at the Toftrees Invitational hosted by Penn State Altoona. Sunday evening, Filer found herself tied in third place at the event. During Monday's final round, the freshman surpassed the first two golfers going into the back nine on the course, ultimately coming out on top on the 18th hole. On Sunday, she marked her scorecard with a 79 (+8), and Monday, with a 78 (+7). Her two-round score was a 157 (+15). She tallied 13 pars and seven birdies. For Filer's collegiate debut, she is walking away with an individual victory at the first invitational of the season.
Sarah Miller also had a top-10 finish for her collegiate debut. The freshman finished the invitational in eighth place. She carded an 84 (+13) and an 82 (+11), with a two-round score of 166 (+24). Miller recorded 16 pars and one birdie.

Avri Chandler (17th place, 183),
Kiya Thomas (24th place, 188), and
Isabella Garland (49th place). Junior,
Sophia Buday, made her return to the course for Saint Francis with a 23rd place finish.
The top five teams at this event include York (672), Seton Hill (683), Saint Francis (692), Washington & Jefferson (705), and Grove City (706).
The Red Wolves will be back on the course Monday, September 28, and Tuesday, September 29. They will be competing at the Golf Galaxy Collegiate in Sewickley, Pa., hosted by Duquesne.
