Saint Francis University Athletics

The Red Flash has had 47 CoSIDA/College Sports Communicators Academic All-America selection in Saint Francis history. In order to be an Academic All-America selection first you have to named to the CoSIDA/College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Up until 2022-23 season, a student-athlete was voted onto an All-District team and if you were a first-team selection would move onto the national ballot. Before the standards were changed, Saint Francis had 86 All-District selections, who moved onto the national ballot. The Red Flash also registered 10 second-team selections in this time as well.  In 2022-23, the organization changed the criteria to a student-athlete must boasts at least a 3.5 grade-point average, compete in 90 percent of the competition or register 66 percentage of starts in a given season with the exception of cross country/track and field and golf. In cross country/track and field, a student-athlete has to register a Top-50 mark in the cross country regional, or in the indoor or outdoor season in an event to be eligible. For golf, the 90 percent competition is in effect with the added that if they compete in the conference championships that also makes him/her eligible. Saint Francis has posted representation from basketball (men's and women's), soccer (men's and women's), women's volleyball, cross country/track and field (men's and women's), softball dating back to the database in 2001-02. In 2022-23, tennis (men's and women's) and women's swimming became their own category, but Red Flash sports men's volleyball, golf (men's and women's), field hockey, women's lacrosse and water polo are lumped together in an at large category. Please note that Saint Francis had 20 CoSIDA/College Sports Communicators Academic All-America selections before 2001-02. Those 20 selections were also most likely an All-District 2 selection, but the data base starts at 2001-02. Since the change in criteria in 2022-23, Saint Francis has had 157 selections and a total of 243 All-District selections dating back to 2001-02.
