Jonathan Kulas is in his third season at Director of Golf at Saint Francis in 2025-26.
Kulas helped form a connection with Sunnehanna Country Club, one of the greatest and most respected courses in the country, to host the Red Flash Invitational during the fall season.
During the 2024-25 season, Trent Meyers won the New York/Pennsylvania D1 Quad Match to help the Red Flash to the title in the spring of 2025. It was the first time Saint Francis had an individual player earn medalist honors since Austin Renz at the Bucknell Invitational on October 8, 2017, and it was the first team title since winning the Colonial Golf Classic on October 8, 2013.
Kulas came to Loretto after serving as the head coach at Saint Peter's, where he helped the Peacocks move up two spots from his first to second season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Golf Championships in 2023, while Jimmy Apostolico finished seventh as an individual to earn All-MAAC honors. Saint Francis players also excelled in the classroom under Kulas with eight players named All-MAAC Academic Team, and two selected to the College Sports Communicators All-District Team.
Prior to his time in Jersey City, Kulas was the head coach at Penn State Scranton from 2019-21. Kulas was tasked with restarting the golf program for its first competitive season since 1976. His team won the PSU Wilkes-Barre Invitational for the first tournament win since 1976, had a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship Qualifier and one all-conference selection. In addition, Andy Faist was named a USCAA Academic All-American.
Kulas was an assistant coach for both the men's and women's golf program at Misericordia University for three seasons and got his start in coaching as a women's basketball assistant coach at Marywood University for the 2015-16 season. He helped his alma mater to the No. 1 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) postseason and a spot in the ECAC Championships, while serving on the staff of the CSAC Coach of the Year.
Kulas was a golf professional at several clubs in Pennsylvania. He was tasked with instructing juniors who reached Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state championships, as well as teaching lessons in individual and group settings and performing administrative tasks.
A 2009 graduate of Marywood University in Scranton, Pa. with a degree in business administration, Kulas helped create a golf program at the school, which has now reached NCAA Division III status. He earned his master's degree from Keystone College in Sports Management and Leadership in 2017.
