Biography



SENIOR (2018-19)- NEC Player of the Week...During the first half of the season, Balas recorded a  baker frame average of 19.00 or higher in three of the six tournaments (Cougar Classic, NEC Meet 1, and KU Invitational)...Recorded a 19.06 traditional average at the Mount Shootout. 

JUNIOR (2017-18)- National Tenpin Coaches Association All-Academic Team….Started off her sophomore campaign with a 184.50 average at the KU Bud Whitman Invitational (10/14-15)…Recorded a 19.46 baker frame average with 50 completed frames at the Brunswick Bearcat Open (10/27-29)...Finished the season with a 183.07 Traditional average and 18.39 baker frame average. 

SOPHOMORE (2016-17)- NEC All-Rookie team honors….NEC Rookie of the Week (11/29/17)…Finished the season with a 181.94 traditional average and a 18.12 baker frame average… posted a season-high 194.20 traditional average at the Red Flash Invitational (1/27-29)…Recorded a 19.55 baker frame average at the KU baker/team matches (10/15-16). 

BEFORE SFU - Balas was a varsity anchor for Penn-Trafford as a freshman, sophomore and junior... As a sophomore, Balas won the Pennsylvania's High School Individual State Champion in 2014... Balas was the Pepsi State Final Champion in 2013 and was the Pepsi State Runner Up in 2016 where she averaged 233 in her second place finish... Balas claimed first place at the JBRPT Tournament of Champions during the 2013-14 season and was named JBRPT Mid-Season Champion... She took second place at the Youth Open Doubles in 2014 and recorded a first place finished in the Summer Youth League in 2014... During the 2014-15 season, she finished with the highest average in the Greater Pittsburgh Youth Travel League... She was a member of the National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars and Community Action Program... For the 2015-16 season, Amanda averaged 204, had a personal high game of 290 and had a high series of 738.

PERSONAL - She is the daughter of Steve and Kimberly Balas... She plans on studying accounting while at Saint Francis.
