Brandon McCray

Brandon McCray is entering his second season as a track & field assistant coach in 2024-25 after Head Coach Douglas Hoover hired McCray in February 2024. His main responsibility will be working with the throwers.

Before coming to Loretto, the newest assistant coach was an assistant at Penn State Behrend from August-December 2023. He helped implement workout and throwing programs, led and organized practice sessions, and mentored athletes to help them address their weaknesses.

McCray was a thrower for Slippery Rock University between 2019-23. During his career, he qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships six times and tallied 20 top-five finishes. He was also a graduate assistant coach with the Rock from August 2022-May 2023, helping two throwers to school records and guiding the rest of the team to personal bests over 40 meters or further.

McCray graduated with his B.S. from Slippery Rock in May 2022. In December 2023, he graduated from the university with his M.S. in Lifelong Wellness through Innovative Leadership.

Hoover on McCray’s hiring: “I’m excited to have Coach McCray join our staff. Through the search process, he emerged as a great fit here at Saint Francis. I’m confident that he is going to help our throwers continue their development. His background as an educator, passion for the sport, and background in the throws is going to make him a great asset on our staff and for our student-athletes.
