DJ Horton

Derek "DJ" Horton will be entering his third year with the Red Flash after joining the track and field coaching staff in August of 2022 as an assistant coach. Horton oversees all of the jumps.

Horton comes to Loretto from Chadron State University where he served as the assistant coach from 2020-2022. Horton assisted in directing, organizing and administering all aspects of the Eagles’ track and field program at the division two level.

Prior to CSU, Horton served as the head coach at Kane High School for a season. 

As a pole vaulter at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), Horton was a six-time All-American and six-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Champion. Horton currently holds IUP’s pole vaulting record with a mark of 17-0.75 from the Penn Relays in 2017.

Horton graduated cum laude from IUP in 2019 with a B.S. in Physical Education and Sport.
