Saint Francis University Director of Athletics James Downer has announced that Dr. Tricia McFadden has returned as the department's Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR). McFadden, who served as the FAR from the summer of 2019 until the fall semester of 2021, takes over for Dr. Carrie Beebout, who served in the position since the fall of 2021.
Â
"We're excited and grateful to have Dr. McFadden step back into the role of FAR," said Downer. "She's proven to be a staunch advocate for all of our student-athletes, and her involvement will continue to enhance the overall student-athlete experience. The entire department looks forward to collaborating with Dr. McFadden on several national and institutional measures in order to achieve continued progress for Red Flash Athletics."Â Â Â Â
Â
McFadden is the Dean of the Division of Professional Studies and Director of the Executive Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership and Innovation. McFadden is in her 11th year at Saint Francis, where she started as an assistant professor of marketing in the Shields School of Business before switching to her current role.Â
Â
"Returning as the Faculty Athletics Representative is a renewal of commitment, an affirmation of dedication, and a rekindling of passion for the pursuit of excellence in athletics and academics," said McFadden. "I am eager to continue supporting our student-athletes, coaches, and staff, fostering a culture of integrity, leadership, and achievement. Go Red Flash!"
Â
McFadden owns a Doctorate of Rhetoric from Duquesne University, an MBA from Saint Francis University, a Master's in Strategic Communication from Barry University, and a Bachelor's in Communication and English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh.Â
Â
"We are so excited to have Dr. McFadden return as our Faculty Athletics Representative," said John Krimmel, the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete and Leadership Development. "Dr. McFadden made a tremendous contribution and impact on the Department of Athletics during her previous tenure as FAR. You will not find someone more passionate than Dr. McFadden about higher education and the role athletics plays in the student-athlete experience."
Â
Since coming to Saint Francis, McFadden has played an active role in athletics, serving as Faculty Athletics Mentor (FAM) for women's basketball and softball.
Â
"Our office (Center for Student-Athlete Development & Academic Services) and the entire Department of Athletics are honored to have Dr. McFadden serve in this role again, as it will help continue the strong relationship between Athletics and the entire university," said Krimmel. "Dr. McFadden's care for students and infectious energy will help elevate the department even more and help us continue to build champions in competition, the classroom, and the community. While she was always a member of the Flash Fam, we are excited to have her even closer to our family here in the Department of Athletics. Welcome back, Dr. McFadden!"
