Wade Earns National Honorable Mention Running Back Honors

LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 17, 2012) – Keion Wade (East Orange, N.J./East Orange) of the Saint Francis University football team picked up National Honorable Mention Running Back of the Week honors from the College Football Performance Awards Monday.

Wade put together a dominating performance Saturday against Morehead State racking up a career-high 243 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. The senior out of East Orange, N.J. rushed for 232 yards over the final three quarters to guide SFU to the victory. Wade's yardage total ranks as the most by a Flash running back since Kyle Harbridge (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) totaled 346 against Morehead State last season. The running game has been key to SFU's early success and they currently rank as the top rushing offense in the NEC and the sixth-best rushing attack in the nation. In the past two games, Saint Francis has picked up 796 rushing yards with 339 against conference rival Bryant and 457 at Morehead State. The award ranks as the second time an SFU running back has received notice from the College Football Performance Awards as Khairi Dickson (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) earned the same honor following his efforts against Bryant.

The Red Flash return to action Saturday when they travel to Maryland to take on nationally ranked Towson under the lights in a 7 p.m. kickoff.
