Football Scouting Report: Robert Morris

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis football returns to DeGol Field, after a four-week road trip, to face Robert Morris on Homecoming.  The Red Flash and the Colonials are set for a Noon kickoff on NEC Front Row.  SFU is looking to get back on track after a 24-7 setback at Duquesne last week.
 
Robert Morris is led by Head Coach John Banszak, who is in his fourth season at the helm.  He is 9-31 in his career at RMU.  The Colonials are 2-5 this season, including 0-2 in the NEC.
 
The Colonials fell 21-14 against Sacred Heart last week, as the Pioneers scored on a 46-yard pick-six with 12 seconds left.  Robert Morris gained 249 total yards, including 187 passing and 62 rushing.  Quarterback Jimmy Walker completed 18-of-36 passes for 187 yards and two interceptions.  Tim Vecchio had five catches for 30 yards, while DeLano Madison hauled in four receptions for 60 yards.  Harrison Dreher rushed for 53 yards, had 23 receiving yards and returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. 
 
Robert Morris allowed 348 total yards, including 189 through the air and 159 on the ground.  RMU did not force a turnover, but recorded 12 tackles for loss and two sacks.  Linebacker Adam Wollet led the team with 16 tackles, while linebacker Joseph Uhatafe made 11 stops, including three for loss and a sack.  Linebacker Tyler Lamica had nine tackles, five solo and one for loss, and a pass breakup.  Linebacker Gerald Ferguson recorded seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.  Cornerback Tevaul Brown broke up three passes and had a tackle for loss.
 
The Colonials are averaging 9.6 points and 224.0 total yards per game.  RMU is gaining 160.4 passing yards and 63.6 rushing yards per contest.  RMU ranks seventh in the NEC in all four categories.
 
Junior quarterback Jimmy Walker, a transfer from San Diego State, leads the Robert Morris offense.  He has completed 48 percent of his passes for 1,104 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions.  He is averaging 12.8 yards per completion.
 
In the backfield, freshman Harrison Dreher has emerged at running back.  The five-foot-nine, 185-pound Dreher came to Robert Morris as a receiver, but after a redshirt year, converted to running back.  He has rushed for 302 yards and a touchdown, averaging 50.3 yards per game and three yards per rush.  He also has 13 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown.  Junior Cole Blake, six-foot, 220 pounds, has 145 yards this year and sophomore T.J. Neal, 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, has 103 yards.
 
Sophomore Tim Vecchio, 5-foot-10, leads the receivers with 17 catches for 166 yards.  Freshman Tavin Allison, six-foot-one, is averaging 19.7 yards per catch for a total of 256 yards, and a touchdown, on 13 receptions.  Five-foot-nine junior Warren Robinson has 12 catches for 156 yards.  Senior tight end Reggie Green, a Pitt transfer, has six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.
 
The Robert Morris offensive line features four freshmen and a sophomore.  Sophomore left guard Conner Mundy leads the group with 15 career starts.  Freshman center Eric McAllister has started all seven games this year.  Freshman right guard Alex Minford and right tackle Dylan Young each have six starts this season, while freshman left tackle Trevor Hicks has five.
 
The Colonials use a 3-4 defensive scheme.  Robert Morris has allowed 26.3 points per game and 339.7 total yards per game, ranking fourth in both categories.  RMU also ranks fourth in rushing defense, giving up 165.7 yards per game.  However, the Colonials lead the conference in pass defense, allowing just 174 yards per contest.  RMU has forced seven turnovers, including two interceptions, and has recorded 17 sacks.  RMU tops the NEC with 7.7 tackles for loss per game.
 
Sophomore defensive end Derian Smith leads the RMU defensive line with 28 tackles, eight solo, 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.  At the opposite end position is sophomore Chris Stanford, who has made 21 stops, six solo, 1.5 for loss and a forced fumble.  Junior Amir Fenwick lines up a nose tackle with 20 tackles, six solo and three for loss.  Junior Zack Zamiska also rotates in at nose tackle and has recorded 23 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and a sack. 
 
The RMU linebacking group accounts for four of the team's top six tacklers.  Junior inside linebacker Adam Wollet leads the team with 68 tackles and tops the NEC with 9.7 tackles for game.  Wollet has 23 solo tackles and three tackles for loss.  Senior Joseph Uhatafe also lines up inside with 45 tackles, 22 solo, six tackles for loss and two sacks.  Senior outside linebacker Gerald Ferguson ranks fifth in the FCS in tackles for loss, with 12.5, and 12th in sacks, with 6.5, to go with 52 tackles, 34 solo, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.  Sophomore Tyler Lamica has 29 tackles, 19 solo, five tackles for loss and three sacks. 
 
Senior safety Ryan Richards, Jr. leads the secondary with 39 tackles, including 27 solo, four for loss, 1.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and three pass breakups.  Fellow senior Andy Smigiera lines up at the other safety spot.  He has recorded 34 tackles, 15 solo, two tackles for loss, an interception and a pass breakup.  At cornerback, senior Drew Allen has 24 stops, 18 solo, 1.5 tackles for loss, a pass breakup, an interception which he returned for a touchdown against Duquesne and a blocked kick.  Sophomore Travon Stott starts at the other corner with 10 tackles, a tackle for loss and two pass breakups.  Sophomore Tevaul Brown sees significant time at cornerback and leads the team with eight pass breakups to go with 20 tackles, 17 solo, two tackles for loss and a sack.
 
Freshman Nick Bisceglia is 6-for-13 on field goal attempts this year, with a long of 32, and is averaging 53.2 yards per kickoff.  Preseason All-NEC selection Adam Check is averaging nearly 37 yards per punt, with three over 50 yards and nine inside the 20.  Harrison Dreher is averaging 25 yards per kick return, including his touchdown return against Sacred Heart, while Tim Vecchio is averaging 20.3 yards per return.  Warren Robinson is contributing 10.1 yards per punt return.
 
Saint Francis trails the all-time series, 15-7-1, against Robert Morris, but has won five straight games in the season.  SFU earned a 24-10 win at Robert Morris last season.  The SFU defense had a strong performance, setting a school record with eight sacks.  Malik Duncan (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) and Lorenzo Jerome (Sunrise, Fla./J.P. Taravella) each had two interceptions, while Jerome added a 48-yard touchdown reception.
