LORETTO, Pa. - The Saint Francis Chapter of Uplifting Athletes, led by President Mike Ames (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills), is counting on the Red Flash offense to put a few touchdowns on the board this Saturday, September 16 for its 2017 Touchdown Pledge Drive when Saint Francis welcomes Towson to DeGol Field.

Uplifting Athletes chapters are run by football student-athletes. So, for fans, this is a great way to support the players on your favorite team off the field in their efforts to use the power of sport for social good.

The leadership team of the Saint Francis Chapter and all the members of the 2017 Red Flash squad is asking fans to help in their efforts to support the rare disease community by making a pledge through the Saint Francis Chapter online Touchdown Pledge Drive site.  Please visit the link above.

Fans can simply make a pledge for each touchdown the Red Flash score that day and they can follow along to see the impact they are helping the players make.

The proceeds from Touchdown Pledge Drive 2017 support Uplifting Athletes and its commitment to leadership development, patient focused programs, rare disease awareness and rare disease research.

The challenges faced by the rare disease community are bigger than any one individual, team or organization can tackle alone. The grassroots effort of the Saint Francis Chapter, along with a nationwide network of teams, is uniquely positioned to educate and engage the local community and shine a spotlight on rare diseases.

The Saint Francis Chapter started tackling rare diseases in 2012 when it joined Uplifting Athletes. The student-athlete led Saint Francis Chapter serves the rare disease community in honor of the younger brother of former Red Flash wide receiver Jeff Wasilewski.

Support the Saint Francis Chapter and its efforts to make a difference in the rare disease community by signing up for its Touchdown Pledge Drive today!

A nonprofit organization founded in 2007, Uplifting Athletes inspires the rare disease community with hope through the power of sport. A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans and typically lacks financial incentive to make and market new treatments. With a network of university chapters run by current college football student-athletes that spans all major conferences, Uplifting Athletes has had an economic impact of more than $400 million on the rare disease community.
