Kovatch Named Candidate for Lieberman Award

LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis junior guard Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) has been named one of the 10 candidates for the Nancy Lieberman Award, an award given to the top point guard in the NCAA.

Kovatch has been named to the watch list each of the last two seasons but this is the first time the junior has made the final 10. This season, Kovatch is fourth in the Nation in scoring at 23.6 points per game and third in the nation in three-pointers per game at 3.85. The New Jersey native is also dishing out 2.5 assists per game, grabbing three rebounds per game and just under two steals per game.
The junior joins former Wagner standout Jasmine Nwajei as Northeast Conference guards who have been the Lieberman top-10 list with Nwajei doing so in 2016. This season, Kovatch is the only player from a non-power-5 conference to make the list, joining the likes of Kia Nurse from UCONN and Kelsey Mitchell from Ohio State.

The Lieberman Award selection committee consists of top women's basketball coaches, women's basketball media, sports information directors, and Basketball Hall of Fame personnel.
