Frank Olszewski

Frank Olszewski was named the eighth coach in program history in January of 2018.

Olszewski is a veteran in the coaching ranks with 35 years of head coaching experience prior to coming to Loretto. He spent the majority of his career (1982-2013) as the head coach at Towson University. Olszewski ranks 12th among Division I active coaches in number of wins; 39th all-time.

The 2020-21 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the offseason, Francis de Vries ('17) was named to the NEC's men's soccer Mount Rushmore, claiming his spot as one of the top four student-athletes in the history of NEC men's soccer. Lucas Rosa was named to the 2021 MLS Superdraft Eligible Players list and CoSida Academic All-District. Kaelon Fox ('18) signed with FC Tucson of USL League One as he enters his fifth year of his professional career.

In his first two seasons at the helm of Saint Francis men's soccer, Olszewski has led the Red Flash to a 12-3-2 conference record and two appearances in the Northeast Conference playoffs. In 2019, Saint Francis hosted the NEC Championships for the first time since 2014. Five players from that squad received all-conference honors, including midfielder Lucas Rosa who won the NEC Player of the Year award. Rosa was also named All-Region First Team, Scholar All-Region First Team, All-America Third Team by College Soccer News, Scholar All-America First Team and NEC Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete. The team received the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award after earning it's highest-ever GPA (3.487) in the spring 2020 semester.

As coach of the Towson Tigers, Olszewski was a four-time League Coach of the Year and the Regional Coach of the Year in 2006, leading his team to seven conference championships. The Tigers advanced passed the NCAA Tournament First Round in two of the seven appearances, making the Second Round in 2001 and the Sweet Sixteen in 2006. Towson appeared in the NCAA Division I National Rankings in nine different seasons.

His ability to develop athletes is unparalleled as he coached 12 All-Americans, five Academic All-Americans, 45 All-Region players, 85 All-Conference Players, 15 National Team players and seven Conference Players of the Year in his 22 seasons at Towson. Additionally, 51 of his former student-athletes went on to play as domestic professionals and 10 went on to be international professionals.

After Towson disbanded its program at the conclusion of the 2013 season, Olszewski joined Davis & Elkins College as its head coach for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. In his two years, he turned the program into a Division II powerhouse, compiling a 24-7-7 (.724%) overall record. He was named the 2016 G-MAC Coach of the Year and led the Senators to the NCAA Tournament in 2017, where they were eliminated in penalty kicks in the second round.

Olszewski’s recruiting connections run deep as he has served as a Development Academy Scout for the U.S. Youth National Teams since 2007.
