LEWISBURG, Pa. (Dec. 18, 2007) – Bucknell made the most of 23 Saint Francis turnovers, as they downed the Red Flash, 64-43, in women's basketball action at Sojka Pavilion on Tuesday night. The loss drops the Red Flash to 3-6 (0-1 NEC) on the season, while the Bison improve to 4-6.
Saint Francis'
Emily Bollinger (Westminster, Md./Westminster) (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and
Britney Hodges (Dayton, Ohio/Mount de Chantal) (Dayton, Ohio/Mount de Chantal Academy) both scored a team-high 11 points in the losing effort. Bollinger also pulled down a game-high nine boards.
Bucknell's Amanda Brown was the game's leading score with 16.
“I thought overall we played good defense,” said Flash head coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl. “But, once again, we committed way too many turnovers to have a chance to win. Almost every time we turned the ball over Bucknell would go down and score.”
The Bison used the game's opening fifteen minutes to build a 10-point lead which would prove to be impregnable for the duration of the game. Saint Francis was able to narrow the Bucknell advantage to single digits only twice after the Bison extended their lead to 11 with 3:26 to go in the first half.
The Red Flash deficit teetered between 10 and 13 points for the entire second half, before Bucknell kicked its offense up a notch in the game's final three minutes to put the game away.
“We're a very 'up and down' kind of team right now and it's definitely frustrating for us,” said Robinson Frucht, whose team has now dropped four in a row. “We need to show more focus and intensity as we head into Morgan State on Friday. That's going to be a big game for us.”
Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
