AKRON, Ohio (Aug. 31, 2007) – The Saint Francis University women's soccer team suffered a tough season-opening loss in the first round of the Westfield Cup tournament at the University of Akron Friday, falling to the home-standing Zips, 3-1.
The Red Flash entered the half down 1-0, but tied the match at the 63:44 mark of the second period on a breakaway goal by freshman

Thirteen minutes later, however, the Zips broke the tie and would tack on an insurance goal with just under four minutes to go in regulation.
Sophomore Jess Boyer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) had a solid game as she drew her first start after spending a season behind former SFU standout Melanie Stockman. The second-year keeper made four saves on seven shots on goal on the day.
The Flash return to action on Sunday when they face Northeastern in their final game of the Westfield Cup tournament at Akron. The game gets underway at 2:30 p.m.
