Red Flash to Take on Robert Morris in NEC Quarterfinals

LORETTO, Pa. (March 2, 2009) - The Saint Francis women's basketball team will take on in-state rival Robert Morris on Saturday in the round one of the Northeast Conference Tournament. Tip off is set for 8 p.m. at the William H. Pitt Center on the campus of Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Conn.

With Monday's victory 74-58 victory over the Colonials, the Red Flash finish the season in a three-way tie for third place with a record of 11-7. Monmouth and Quinnipiac also boast 11-7 records after both teams won on Monday.

The winning percentage of all three teams against each other was used to break the tie. SFU defeated Monmouth and split the series with Quinnipiac, giving them a .667 winning percentage. Quinnipiac split the series with both teams to end a .500, and Monmouth lost to Saint Francis and split with the Bobcats to end at .333. The Red Flash take third place in the conference, with Quinnipiac in fourth and Monmouth in fifth.

After falling to the Red Flash, the Colonials dropped to 9-9 and take the sixth seed in the tournament.

The winner of the Saint Francis/Robert Morris game will face the winner of the Central Connecticut State/Fairleigh Dickinson (seeds two and seven, respectively) at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The first two rounds of the tournament will be held at Sacred Heart. The championship game will be held at the home arena of the highest remaining seed on March 15.
