SMITHFIELD, R.I. (Oct. 10, 2010) – Bryant University made the most of its limited opportunities as the Bulldogs turned back the Saint Francis women's soccer team, 1-0, in Smithfield, R.I. on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs scored the contest's only goal at the 15:01 mark on a Kaitlyn Hinck header then withstood a 19-shot Red Flash barrage to earn the win.
Bryant goalkeepers Lauren Viverto and Kelsi Jacob split the game, making plays on each of SFU's five shots on goal.
Freshman Brianna Tata paced the Red Flash offense with four shots, one of which was on mark.
Senior Lauren Fearer (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant Area) – who started the game in goal for SFU – took the loss.
Saint Francis (8-4-1) returns to action on Friday when they welcome Quinnipiac for a 4 p.m. match.
