FULL PREGAME RELEASE [pdf]
The Red Flash (2-4) hit the midway point of their current three-game home stand as they welcome the
Pittsburgh Panthers to Loretto for the first time since Nov. 27, 2002 (L, 70-61).
Pittsburgh (2-2) holds a 6-2 lead all-time in a series that has been quite competitive over the past decade. Each of the teams' past four meetings have been decided by 10 points or fewer, including last
season's 75-70 SFU loss to the then-24th-ranked Panthers.
Pittsburgh's largest win in the series came in 1994 – a 22-point margin (82-60) at Fitzgerald
Fieldhouse – with Saint Francis' largest win coming the very next season – a 30-point (81-51) victory at the Stokes Center.
With eight meetings all-time, Pitt is SFU's most frequent opponent from a BCS?conference.
Both teams won their previous games on Sunday: Pittsburgh downed Loyola 73-45, while SFU
defeated Coppin State, 77-67.
Wednesday marks just the second road game of the season for the Panthers. Their first was a 73-63 setback at Minnesota on Nov. 17.
