Red Flash Drop NEC Opener at St. Francis-NY

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y.  (Dec. 2, 2010) – Saint Francis' struggles with turnovers continued in a 57-44 Northeast Conference-opening loss at St. Francis-NY in men's basketball action on Thursday night at the Pope Physical Education Center.

The Terriers used a 9-0 run in the first half of the second half to take control, and the Red Flash were never able to recover. Saint Francis had 20-plus (22) turnovers for the third straight game.

SFU fell to 2-5 overall on the season, and 0-1 in the Northeast Conference. St. Francis-NY improved to 2-3 overall in its league-opening win.

The Red Flash will return to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday when they visit Long Island University. That game can be heard live on The EDGE 1400 AM (Loretto), and a link to listen will be available at www.myedgeradio.com.

“St. Francis-NY made it very difficult on us to get any rhythm in our offensive game tonight,” said Saint Francis head coach Don Friday. “We need to take better care of the basketball, and we need to find the right combinations. We will work hard to play better basketball on Saturday against another tough opponent at Long Island.”
