Red Flash to Host NEC Rival Sacred Heart in Televised PinkZone Matchup

Loretto, Pa. (Feb. 19, 2010) - After a big win against Quinnipiac on Thursday, the Saint Francis women's basketball team will try to clinch a spot in the Northeast Conference Tournament when they take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers in a NEC Championship game rematch on Saturday afternoon at DeGol Arena.   Tip off is set for noon.

The game will bring a slew of festivities, as it is the team's third annaul PinkZone Day, Alumni Day and Senior Day celebrations.  The game will also be televised on FSN-Pittsburgh, MSG and WWCP-Fox 8. 

The Red Flash will don pink uniforms in honor of breast cancer awareness as part of the WBCA's PinkZone Day.  The uniforms will be auctioned off in an online auction with the proceeds going to Making Stides Against Cancer.  WTAJ's Amy Mearkle, who is known for promoting breast cancer awareness in the community, will be an honorary coach for the game.  Back in October, the Red Flash participated in the Making Strides Against Cancer walk in Hollidaysburg as they continue to support the cause.

 In addition to PinkZone, seniors Britney Hodges (Dayton, Ohio/Mount de Chantal) (Dayton, Ohio/Mount de Chantal) and Janie Killian (Verona, Pa./Penn Hills) (Verona, Pa./Penn Hills) will be honored as part of the team's annual Senior Day celebtration.  Former Red Flash basketball players will also be honored at half time as the team celebrates Alumni Day.
