Game 22 Preview- Saint Francis at Quinnipiac

Saint Francis wraps up its two-game Connecticut swing with a Monday evening matchup at Quinnipiac.  The 7 p.m. contest marks the 23rd all-time meeting between the Red Flash and Bobcats.  The Red Flash have won 15 meetings, including the last two.

Both teams are looking to get back on the winning track after losses on Saturday in what is now a battle for sole possession of second place in the Northeast Conference.

Due to the NEC's unbalanced schedule, this will be the second-straight season during which SFU and Quinnpiac will meet only once.

Last time out, Saint Francis saw its four-game, month-long road winning streak snapped by Sacred Heart.  SFU has yet to drop back-to-back league games this season and has lost consecutive NEC road games only twice over the past two years.

The Red Flash are still looking for their first win at the TD Bank Center.  Saint Francis suffered a 65-58 setback in their first visit to the arena on Feb. 4 2008 and dropped a 77-66 decision to the Bobcats on Jan. 10, 2009.

NEXT UP: BRYANT
It'll be mix of new and old as the Red Flash welcome Bryant to Loretto for the second time ever on Saturday.  The Bulldogs – the NEC's newest member – have a 1-1 record all-time against SFU but are winless at DeGol Arena.  Familiar faces, however, will be in no short supply.  On hand for Hall of Fame Day will be a host of Saint Francis legends including the NEC's all-time leading scorer Jess
Zinobile and the winningest coach in Flash women's hoops annals, Jenny Przekwas.

GARBAGE STAT OF THE GAME: That Old January Feeling

While the Flash have already clinched their third-straight winning January and their 15th in the past 20 season, an eight-win month would be more typical of the SFU teams of the past two decades.  Saint Francis has finished their first month of the new calendar with eight or more wins on eight occasions but only twice over the past 10 years.  In 10-game Januaries since 1990-91, SFU has compiled records of 5-5 (1993-94), 9-1 (1996-97) and 8-2 (2001-02).

DALY REACHES 1,000-POINT MILESTONE
By scoring an even 14 points in Jan. 10's 75-62 win over Mount St. Mary's, senior Allison Daly (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) became Saint Francis' 20th 1,000-point scorer.  After scoring only 75 points as a freshman in 2007-08, Daly averaged just over 360 points per season as a sophomore and junior.

LILLEY RANKS AMONG NATION'S LEADERS
Brittany Lilley (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park)'s 15 assists against Kent State tied for the second-most in an NCAA?Division I game so far this season.  As of Jan. 27, her 5.5 helpers per contest also ranked 27th in the country.

ROBINSON FRUCHTL NOTCHES 50th WIN
Saint Francis head coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl earned her 50th career win with Jan. 24th's victory, 72-60, victory over St. Francis (N.Y.).  Looking ahead, Robinson Fruchtl needs seven wins to catch her predecessor Jill Poe (2003-07) in career wins.  Poe went 57-62 in her four seasons at the helm.

FRESHMAN WILLIAMS HEATING UP
Alli Williams (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) has averaged 10.6 points per game since exploding for 29 points against Kent State on Dec. 4.  After joining the starting lineup a game later in place of injured Shené Fleming, Williams scored 22 points at Howard and also had a strong outing at Duquesne, scoring 13.  She notched her first career double-double (11 pts/10 reb) vs. St. Francis (N.Y.) on Jan. 24.  With 126 boards, she is currenly SFU's leading rebounder.

DEEP THREATS LEACH, DALY PACE POTENT PERIMETER OFFENSE
As of Thursday's NCAA Statistical report, the Flash can stake claim to the country's 23rd-best three-point field goal percentage.  Shooting a collective 36.0 percent (131-for-364), Saint Francis is paced from long range by the NEC's three-point leader Allison Daly (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity).  Daly is shooting 41.9 percent (54-for-129) from the arc.  Senior Samantha Leach (Mount Sterling, Ohio/Miami Trace), who converts at a 41.8 percent (38-for-91) clip, is close behind.

SFU'S STRUGGLES AT THE LINE CONTINUE
The Red Flash have struggled from the free throw line this season, converting on only 252 of 404 (62.4%) opportunities through 21 contests.  Samantha Leach (Mount Sterling, Ohio/Miami Trace) is currently SFU's strongest option from the line, converting 64 of 76 attempts (84.2 percent) on the season.  Saint Francis' best FT shooter, however, may be Rhonda Watts (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson) who shot 94 percent from the foul line in high school.  Watts is sitting out the 2010-11 campaign after transferring from VCU.

LEACH MOVES?INTO NINTH SPOT?ON SFU?SCORING LIST
Samantha Leach (Mount Sterling, Ohio/Miami Trace) earned more than a championship in last season's NEC title game at Long Island.  The 5-10 guard also became the 19th Red Flash player to break the 1,000-point barrier with her first bucket of the game.  With 1,385 career points, she currently ranks ninth on the SFU all-time scoring list.
