LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 2, 2011) – The Saint Francis University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (18-25, 20-25, 21-25) Northeast Conference contest with Fairleigh Dickinson Sunday afternoon at DeGol Arena.

After the Red Flash (6-13, 1-3) recorded the opening point in the first set, the Knights (10-6, 1-3) got off to a roaring start as they picked up seven consecutive points and built up an early 11-2 lead. SFU rallied in the later moments of the set, earning six of the last 10 points scored, but fell short in building a comeback win.

In the remaining two sets, the Flash again fell behind early on and could not recover from those setbacks. Junior Lauren Wingard (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) registered nine kills to lead the team and picked up four blocks, while Logan Meinert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) carded 20 assists and Breanna Kochinsky (Nicktown, Pa./Northern Cambria) led the defensive effort with 11 digs.

Saint Francis continues its home stand this Saturday when Central Connecticut State visits Loretto for a 1 p.m. matchup.
