The Red Flash (0-2, 0-0) received a tremendous effort from a trio of freshman but it was not enough to overcome and 3-point and free throw hitting show put on by the Leopards (1-1, 0-0). Jim Mower and Ryan Willen each recorded 22 points and combined to go 8-of-12 from the 3-point arc and 12-of-13 from the free throw line. Dominique Major (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) combined for 38 points.
Lafayette got off to a fast start from the 3-point arc in the first half as the Leopards attempted just six point two shot attempts and 15 3-pointers. Mower led the way with 13 in the first half going 4-of-6 from the field and 3-of-4 from behind the 3-point arc. The Saint Francis bench stepped up for the injured

Saint Francis rallied and even pulled ahead of Lafayette by as many as five but were doomed by the excellent 3-point and free throw shooting of Lafayette. The Flash missed five second half free throws and went 3-of-8 from behind the 3-point arc, while the Leopards went 15-of-18 from the free throw line and 5-of-8 from behind the arc. Saint Francis' missed free throw let Lafayette retake the lead and despite hold the Leopards without a field goal over the final 2:01 of the game the Flash could not retake the lead.
