Flash finish first NEC weekend with four wins

Leid goes as highest finishing freshman

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (Nov. 13, 2011) – The Saint Francis University bowling team sits in fifth place in the Northeast Conference standings following the first NEC tournament of the season.

"With seven conference teams within two wins of each other this weekend, getting four conference wins was very important,” head coach Tom Falbo said. “We had two matches this weekend which didn't go our way, coming down to one frame making the difference. Our ladies performed very strong this weekend as they have all season."

The Red Flash (24-11) compiled a 1-3 record Sunday afternoon, taking down the eighth-ranked team in the nation, Kutztown, 841-815 in the second match of the day. Saint Francis fell in its first match 939-896 to Adelphi. In its final two matches of the competition, SFU dropped a 940-924 contest to Monmouth that came down to the final frame of action, and suffered an 886-824 loss to Saint Peters.

Freshman Christina Leid (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) participated in every game of the weekend for the Flash and racked up a total pinfall of 1,733 to finish 13th overall with an average of 192.56.
