HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Saint Francis University men's basketball team put together a strong effort on the road against Colgate but came up short, 74-66.
The Red Flash (0-4) battled hard but could not complete the rally against the Raiders (2-2).
Ollie Jackson (Dallas, Texas/Pinkston ) led the way for the Red Flash with a career high 19. Mike Venezia led the way for Colgate with 15 points.
Scott Eatherton (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) recorded seven points and nine rebounds.
The Red Flash started strong in the first half and ran out to their largest lead of the season. Brown, Jackson and Whyatt, the SFU freshman trio, combined for 18 in the first frame to lead the Flash. In the Final four minutes, Saint Francis let the Colgate shooters shake lose and they posted three 3-point baskets in the final four minutes and took at 35-30 lead into the locker room. The Raiders registered six first half three point buckets and outrebounded the Flash 18-16.
The Raiders and the Red Flash played a tight game in the second stanza with Flash pulling close several time but never able to pull even with Colgate. Jackson fired a few late 3-point shot but all went long. Colgate added a few buckets late to give the Raider the final margin.
The Red Flash return to action Saturday and kickoff a four game home stand with a 2 p.m. tip against Youngstown State.

- Colgate shot 6-of-12 from 3-point range in the first half and 10-of-21 from 3-point land for the game.
- The Raiders outrebounded the Flash 42-28. Colgate pulled down 27 defensive boards just one fewer than the Red Flash total number of rebounds.

- The Red Flash held their largest lead of the season at the 5:17 mark after a pair of made free throws by
Ollie Jackson (Dallas, Texas/Pinkston ) but the Raiders went on a 10-0 run and held a 33-28 lead with 1:49 left in the first frame
