FULL PREGAME RELEASE (pdf)
On the heels of a rare home setback, the Red Flash hits the road as it tipoffs off its longest road trip of the season with a visit to Saint Joseph's on Monday. The contest at Hagan Arena will mark the first between the two programs.
SFU dropped its only other game against an Atlantic 10 school this season, falling, 74-70, to Duquesne in its season-opener. The Hawks came up with a, 63-54, home victory over Northeast Conference foe Sacred Heart on Nov. 26. Both squads lost by six points last time out: Saint Francis fell, 59-53, to Towson, while SJU dropped a, 52-46, decision at Villanova.
The Red Flash has struggled on the road through the early part of the season, albeit against tough competition. Saint Francis dropped games at Pittsburgh and Syracuse before breaking through with an overtime win at Akron.
The Hawks are led by senior guard Michelle Baker, who enters the game averaging 10.2 points per contest. As a team, Saint Joseph's is scoring 64.9 points per contest – the same average output the sported by the Red Flash.
Saint Francis' seven-game swing includes stops in five states and will officially end when the Flash plays its first home game in 34 days on Jan. 14.
