Saint Francis Closes Non-Conference Play at Drexel New Year’s Eve

The Flash look to end road slide

LORETTO, Pa. (Dec. 29, 2011) –
Saint Francis closes its out of conference contest Dec. 31 with a road game against the Drexel Dragons scheduled for a noon start.
 
FLASH FACTS
- Saint Francis holds a record of 1-5 all-time against Drexel and have not defeated the Dragons since the Dec. 21, 1991. The Red Flash and Drexel have meet in each of the past two seasons with the Dragons winning 57-61 a season ago and 35-57 in the 2009-10 season.
 
- Last season in Loretto, Samme Givens led Drexel with 19 points and 16 rebounds against Saint Francis. In the 2010 meeting, Anthony Ervin (Chesterfield, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) recorded a career high 20 points and Tony Peters (Roselle, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) picked up five points, four rebounds and a block in limited minutes.
 
- Scott Eatherton (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) responded from his worst shooting performance of the season against Pitt with a 6-for-7 game against St. Bonaventure. The NCAA will not update its national stats for field goal percentage until the New Year but the 6-8 sophomore entered the break first and is still shooting better than 70-percent (72.1-percent) from the field for the season.
 
- Eatherton continues to come up just short of his first career double-double. Against the Bonnies, the Hershey, Pa. native missed the mark by one rebound. Coming into the season, Eatherton had a career high of six rebounds in a game, this season he has six games of seven or more boards.
 
- Anthony Ervin (Chesterfield, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) saw his streak of consecutive double-digit games come to an end against St. Bonaventure. The junior had posted six consecutive games of 10 points or more.
 
- Tony Peters (Roselle, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) continues to see his role increase off the bench for SFU, the junior has had four or more points in three of the last five games. The native of Roselle, N.J. has also collected three or more rebounds in three of his last five games.
 
- In the past two games, SFU has gone 20-of-28 (71.4-percent) from the free throw line. In the first nine games of the season, the Red Flash went 62.1-percent from the charity stripe.
 
- Kameron Ritter posted just two assists in his first seven games of the season in his last four games the sophomore has recorded 12 assists and just six turnovers. The junior has also seen a rise in his scoring after recording a point in just two of his first seven contest, Ritter has scored in his last four games including a season high 11 vs. St. Bonaventure.
 
- In his last four games, Ritter has averaged 4.5 points per-game, 3.0 assists per-game, 1.5 rebounds per-game and 1.25 steals per-game.
 
- Steophon Whyatt has a scored and posted an assist in every game this season. The freshman guard has five double-digit scoring performances to his credit and has recorded three or more assists five times.
 
- Ollie Jackson (Dallas, Texas/Pinkston ) continues to struggle with his shooting stroke on the road. The Saint Francis freshman has been lights out at home shooting 51.5 percent from the field in DeGol Arena. The road has not been as kind to the Dallas, Texas native, who is shooting 26.3-percent on the road.
 
- The Red Flash were called for 28 personal fouls in their last game against St. Bonaventure, a season high, against Pitt the game before SFU was called for 13, the second fewest this season for the Flash.    
 
- The Red Flash started the season going 0-6 in the month of November but the Flash have won three of their last five. SFU can secure a winning record in the month of December with a win against the Dragons.
 
BENCH NOTES
The Red Flash bench has been at its best on its home floor outscoring opponents 164-91 but on the road SFU's bench is being outscoring by its opponents 72-119. The SFU bench has been held to single digits just three times this season, each coming on the road. The Flash hold a record of 3-4 when their bench outscores its opponents and 0-5 when the opponent's bench bests the Red Flash reserves.

The Red Flash open their conference road schedule Jan. 5 with a 7 p.m. against the Central Conn. State Blue Devils.
