The Red Flash opens the New Year with a visit to Gonzaga as it closes out its 2011-12 non-conference slate.
Saint Francis, however, will face its toughest test of the season as it attempts to halt its current three-game skid. The Bulldogs are ranked 24th in the most recent ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and are ranked third in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major poll.
The winner of six straight, Gonzaga is led by Kayla Standish, who averages 16.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per outing.
The Flash was hurt by poor first half performances and lackluster free throw shooting as it dropped a pair of games at the Seattle University/Delta Dental Holiday Hoops Tournament on Thursday and Friday. SFU either matched or out-scored both opponents in the second period.
Not only does Sunday's meeting mark the first between SFU and Gonzaga, it is also the first meeting between the Bulldogs and a Northeast Conference school. The Red Flash is 0-2 against West Coast Conference opponents, but has not face a WCC school in 18 years.
The Flash is currently 0-5 in three west coast trips. Prior to Friday's loss to Saint Louis, SFU's last game in the Pacific Northwest came in 2005, when the Red Flash opened its season at the Women's Sports Foundation Challenge at the University of Oregon.
