READING, Pa. (Jan. 27, 2012) – The Saint Francis University bowling team began the first round of action at the Kutztown Baker Invitational with a 2-4 record in the six-game format for Friday.
Friday's action had each team throwing in six quad baker matches. The Red Flash (39-24) struggled in its first two matches of the afternoon, falling to No. 11 Stephen F. Austin and tournament host Kutztown. SFU picked it up in the next two games, defeating No. 12 Delaware State before downing North Carolina Central in the fourth match of the afternoon. Saint Francis would falter again though in its final two matches of round one, losing to Northeast Conference members Adelphi and No. 2 ranked Fairleigh Dickinson.
With the team's 4,210 total baker pinfall, the Red Flash currently sit in 15
th place in the 28-team field. SFU totaled games of 683, 676, 819, 708, 682 and 642, respectively. FDU leads the tournament posting a flawless 6-0 record on day one and accumulating a total pinfall of 4,890. The Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson are the only team in the field of 28 to have an unbeaten record in the first round.
Saint Francis heads back to the lanes for round two of the Kutztown Baker Invitational tomorrow morning in Reading.
