READING, Pa. (Jan. 28, 2012) – In the second round of the three-day Kutztown Baker Invitational, the Saint Francis University bowling team posted a 16
th-place showing in the 28-team field during the traditional match play.
Similar to yesterday's quad baker matches, the Red Flash (41-28) posted a 2-4 overall record for the day's round of action. SFU earned wins over Howard and Bethune-Cookman, before falling in four straight matches to No. 1-ranked Valparaiso, Vanderbilt, Morgan St. and Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Flash fell by just 23 pins to the top-ranked team in the nation. A 997 in game four of the afternoon to Vanderbilt was SFU's highest total game score and helped lead them to a total traditional game pinfall of 5,325.
Freshman
Christina Leid (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) threw the highest traditional game average for the Flash with a 196.66 mark in all six games. The Ephrata, Pa. native was the only SFU bowler to compete in all six matches and rolled her highest game, a 227, in the fourth match against Vanderbilt. Fellow freshman
Briana Ord (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and sophomore
Heidi Baumert (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) were the only other Red Flash bowlers to throw individual games of over 200.
