BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (Dec. 17, 2012) – Four Bucknell players scored in double figures led by Cameron Ayers' 13 as the Bison shot past Saint Francis University, 76-49, at DeGol Arena on Monday evening.
Bucknell, which remained red-hot by winning its 10th game in 11 tries, shot 55 percent (27-of-49) from the floor while holding the Red Flash to a 30 percent (16-of-54) shooting night. SFU (0-9) became the fourth Bison opponent to be held to 52 or fewer points in a game this season.
Making his first appearance since Nov. 24,
Earl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) showed little rust in scoring a team-high 12 points and collecting five rebounds. Brown had missed SFU's previous three games for observation of concussion-like symptoms.
“In the first couple of minutes I thought we did some good things,” said head coach
Rob Krimmel. “Then we broke down on a few possessions in the middle of the first half. They got some looks and got the ball rolling.”
Bucknell jumped out to a quick nine-point lead with a game-opening 11-to-2 run. Senior center Mike Muscala racked up five points and an assist in the sequence.
The Red Flash clawed back, pulling to within four points (16-12) on an
Ollie Jackson (Dallas, Texas/Pinkston ) 3-pointer at the 7:57 mark. The Bison responded with a six-and-a-half minute 22-to-4 run during which SFU was blanked from the field.
Saint Francis managed only one field goal – a
Dominique Major (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) 3-pointer at the 1:13 mark – during the final 7:57 of the first half. Bucknell led 42-19 at the intermission.
Next up for the Flash is a date at Kent State on Dec. 20. The tip is slated for 7 p.m.
