Game 8 Preview: Lehigh at Saint Francis U

FULL PREGAME RELEASE (pdf)

Saint Francis U returns home on Saturday when Lehigh visits DeGol Arena at 2 p.m.  The Mountain Hawks are the fourth of five Patriot League schools on the Red Flash schedule this season.  Previously, SFU fell to Colgate (85-67), American (61-51) and Lafayette (61-58).

Lehigh has enjoyed a solid start to its non-conference schedule, coming in with a 7-2 record.  Four of the Mountain Hawks seven wins have come over Northeast Conference squads, including last year's runner-up Robert Morris.  Lehigh suffered its two losses at the hands of Big East foe Pittsburgh and No. 19/18 Baylor.

Senior guard C.J. McCollum leads Lehigh's four players who average double-digit point totals with 24.4. McCollum shoots above 50 percent from the field, the 3-point line and the charity stripe.

Through seven games a season ago, SFU sat at 1-6, playing four of its seven contests at the friendly confines of DeGol Arena.

Today's game is the first at home for the Red Flash in 17 days.  After a break for final exams, SFU will remain at home to play Bucknell on Monday, Dec. 17.

STARTING FIVE...
  • Saint Francis has been leading or tied in the second half in four of its seven losses
  • SFU's 11.4 turnovers per game is the 24th-lowest average in the NCAA (347 schools)
  • Freshman Steph Mosley's 10.3 point per game leads Northeast Conference rookies
  • SFU has played at home only once in the season's first seven games (85-76 loss to Colgate)
  • Krimmel on Lafayette game: “Late in the game I thought we settled way too often for jump shots instead of driving the basketball.  We missed a couple of layups and in a tight game we needed those points.”

VETERAN APPRECIATION EVENT TO BE HELD TODAY
  • Saint Francis will be hosting a Veteran Appreciation Day today in its game against Lehigh
  • SFU's camouflage uniforms will be auctioned off after the game
  • Veterans and their families will be admitted to the game free of charge
