LORETTO, Pa. (Feb. 15, 2012) – For the second time in five days, Robert Morris used a second-half surge to push past the Saint Francis University women's basketball team, this time downing the Red Flash, 75-63, at DeGol Arena.

The Colonials stormed out of the gates in the second half hitting on their first six field goal attempts to run out to a 16-point lead and proceeded to outscore the Red Flash 13-to-5 in the first four minutes of the period.

After a 30-second SFU timeout, the Colonials continued to pour it on, running its lead to 22 points with 14:31 to play.  Saint Francis was able to make a run mid-way through the decisive period, cutting their deficit to 15 by the 11:13 mark, but couldn't sustain the momentum.

“We obviously weren't good enough tonight,” said Flash head coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl.  “Robert Morris out-played us, really on all fronts.”

“We've just got to keep fighting.  We have four games left; anything can happen.  We'll come back tomorrow and keep working and keep going after this.”

RMU's Artemus Spanou paced her team with 19 points and 12 boards.  In all, four Colonials scored 15 points or more in the contest. 

Alli Williams (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) posted a team-high 11 points for the Red Flash, which fell to 11-14 on the season and 8-6 in Northeast Conference play.  Sarah Thorn (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury East) and Nickia Gibbs (Greenbelt, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) each chipped in 10 points.

Robert Morris led, 30-25, at the intermission after what was a sluggish first half for both teams.  The Colonials shot 34 percent from the field, while the Red Flash struggled to the tune of 29 percent.  Each team finished the period with 11 turnovers.

Saint Francis scored the first five points of the contest, but RMU answered by scoring the next seven before a Keegan jumper in the paint tied things up.  The game went back-and-forth for the next 10 minutes before the Colonials pulled away with an 10-0 run that pushed the score to, 30-23.

An Allison Smith (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) jumper at the 28 second mark cut the Flash deficit to five to set the halftime tally.

Saint Francis' shooting improved to 45 percent in the second half, but the Colonials saw a marked upswing as well, firing at a 65 percent clip.

Saint Francis is back in action on Saturday when it welcomes Bryant for its annual Senior Day game.  Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at DeGol Arena.
