FULL PREGAME RELEASE
It's Senior Day in Loretto as the Red Flash welcomes Bryant to DeGol Arena at 2:30 p.m. The unusual tip time is due to the game being taped for a broadcast next week.
Not only will Saint Francis seniors
Najah Prescott (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty),
Allison Smith (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and
Sarah Thorn (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury East) be honored prior to the game, but newly-minted Northeast Conference Hall of Famer Beth Swink will be recognized during a halftime ceremony.
The Red Flash fell to the Bulldogs, 57-52, in Smithfield on January 7, and will look to avenge that setback this afternoon in a game that carries significant postseason implications. SFU has history on its side, however, as neither the Bulldogs or Flash have lost on their home courts.
While, Bryant is in the final year of its reclassifying period and cannot qualify for the NEC tournament, the Red Flash enters in a three-way tie for fourth place. In actuality, SFU would be a fifth-seed if the season ended today, by virtue of a tiebreaker over LIU Brooklyn and an RMU tiebreaker over the Red Flash.
Saint Francis welcomes Central Connecticut State on Monday to close out its 2011-12 home season.
