FULL PREGAME RELEASE (pdf)
With Saturday's win over Bryant, the Red Flash clinched its fourth Northeast Conference postseason berth in as many years and will now turn its attention to a strong finish to the regular season. Currently in line for a fifth seed, Saint Francis will begin the season's stretch run with a Monday clash with Central Connecticut State.
On the line for this evening's home finale is a shot at a winning record at DeGol Arena for a fourth consecutive season and a chance to hit double-digit conference wins for the 17th time in the last 19 seasons.
An LIU Brooklyn loss on Saturday has provided a bit of a cushion for the Flash, which holds tiebreakers over the four teams immediately below it in the standings.
The Blue Devils enter having lost their last three and will look to avoid their sixth straight loss to SFU today. Saint Francis won the earlier meeting, 57-47, but required a heroic defensive effort in the process. The Flash trailed by 22 late in the first half, but outscored CCSU, 35-to-9 in the second to pull out the win.
Saint Francis seniors
Najah Prescott (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty),
Allison Smith (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and
Sarah Thorn (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury East) will play their final games on the Stokes Center hardwood this evening.
Saint Francis travels to Sacred Heart on Saturday to tipoff the final road trip of the 2011-12 season.
