BOX SCORE HIGHLIGHTS  - POSTGAME INTERVIEW WITH ERIC LONG

MOREHEAD, Ky. (Sept.  15, 2012) – The Saint Francis University football team rushed for a single-game school record 457 yards and rallied from down 17 points to best Morehead State on the road Saturday, 57-23, at Jayne Stadium.
 
Keion Wade (East Orange, N.J./East Orange) rushed for 243 yards and three scores while John Kelly (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) racked up 86 yards on the ground as SFU posted over 300 yards on the ground as a team for the second consecutive game. The Red Flash (2-1, 1-0) fell behind early as the Eagles (1-2, 0-0) scored the game's first 17 points, but SFU responded by outscoring Morehead State 57-6 in the final three quarters to pick up the win. Kelly added 100 yards through the air and two touchdowns as SFU picked up its first win at Jayne Stadium.

"I am very proud of the way our team responded after falling behind," head coach Chris Villarrial said. "We struggled early but our team did a great job of battling and we got a big win today against a solid team."
 
The game did not start well for the Red Flash as Khairi Dickson (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic), who was slowed by injury, fumbled on SFU's first offensive play, giving the Eagles excellent field position. The SFU defense held the Eagles to a field goal but on their next two possessions Zach Lewis engineered a pair of touchdown drives for the Eagles, highlighted by a 94-yard touchdown strike to Brian Bornhauser. The early offensive assault by the Eagles gave them a 17-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
 
The game turned when Bornhauser came in at quarterback and threw a pass that was intercepted by SFU's Patrick Paul (Port Charlotte, Fla./Port Charlotte ). SFU used the turnover to score its first touchdown of the game as Kelly and Wade drove SFU 31-yards on nine plays. Morehead State responded with a nine play 76-yard drive to push the Eagle's advantage to 23-7 with 3:49 left in the first half. The Flash cut into the Morehead State advantage before the half thanks to an excellent play by AJ Alexander. Kelly threw a swing pass to Alexander and the senior wide out used some excellent moves in the open field to take the short pass 33-yards to the end zone for the score, making the Eagle advantage 23-14 at the half.
 
Saint Francis dominated the second half led by the efforts of Keion Wade (East Orange, N.J./East Orange), who rushed for two second half scores. Wade's first second half touchdown came on SFU's first possession of the second half on a 40-yard run in which Wade hurdled a player and carried two players on his back into the end zone. The Flash held the Eagles to just 51 yards in the third quarter while the SFU offense totaled 223 yards with 163 coming on the ground.
 
The Flash scored 43 second half points and shutout the high powered Eagle offense. The SFU defense picked up three second half interceptions. William Ingram (Linden, N.J./Linden) posted excellent numbers late with 65-yards on seven carries while the sophomore also found the end zone twice. Following the first half interception thrown by Bornhauser, SFU outscored Morehead State 57-6.
 
Ryan Revtai (Oakdale, Pa./West Allegheny) led the SFU defense with seven tackles while also posting two pass break ups. Jakob DeMedal, Mike Dennis (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) and Matt Scott (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) joined Paul with interceptions. Saint Francis limited Morehead State to just 167 yards in the second half and just 29 second half rushing yards.
 
Saint Francis continues its road trip next Saturday as SFU travels to Towson for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the nationally ranked Tigers.
 
GAME NOTES
- The win for the Flash is the first for the program against the Eagles in Morehead, Ky.  
 
- With the win, Saint Francis holds its best three-game start since 2004.
 
- As a team, SFU rushed for 457 yards on the ground and set a school record for single-game team rushing yards. The record bests SFU pervious mark set last season against the Eagles.  
 
- The Flash picked up three or more interceptions for the second consecutive game.   
 
- The back-to-back wins for SFU are the first for the Flash since 2007 when SFU closed the season with wins against Wagner and La Salle.
 
- Mike Dennis (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) and Patrick Paul (Port Charlotte, Fla./Port Charlotte ) picked up interceptions for the second consecutive week.
