McKibben racks up four points; Flash run shutout streak to three

BOX SCORE SMITHFIELD, R.I. (Sept. 28, 2012) – The Saint Francis University women's soccer team remained perfect in Northeast Conference play on Friday afternoon by besting Bryant, 3-0, at Sutton Field.

As has become the norm this season, Tesa McKibben (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) had a hand in all three goals by the Red Flash (6-4-1; 3-0 NEC), scoring one and assisting on two others.  The Bulldogs (6-6) fall to 1-2 in the NEC after being held scoreless for only the third time this season.

McKibben got things started for Saint Francis in the 19th minute when she collected the ball just outside the box and fired a shot past Bryant goalkeeper Lauren Viverito for her seventh tally of the season.

Just before halftime, McKibben delivered a beautifully-placed ball in front of the net to sophomore Eloa Nascimento, who doubled the Red Flash advantage with only ten seconds to play in the half. McKibben contributed her final helper of the day on the third goal for the visitors scored by Kelly Beegle (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) in the 65th minute.

SFU outshot the Bulldogs, 13-9, led by McKibben who fired seven shots, five of which were on goal.

Red Flash keeper Brianna Butcher (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) – who picked up her fourth shutout of the season – stopped four Bulldog chances and has yet to surrender a goal in NEC play.  Viverito recorded six saves while taking the loss.

Saint Francis, which has now won three games in a row and four of its last five, visits Sacred Heart on Sunday.  Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
