BOX SCORE LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2013) – Forward
Tesa McKibben (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) scored twice and
Mackenzie Walter (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) furnished the game-winner as the Saint Francis U women's soccer team executed a, 3-1, comeback win over commonwealth competitor Robert Morris Friday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half during which each team put three shots on goal, Johanna Kadam put the Colonials (4-7-3; 0-2-2) on top in the 55th minute with her fourth goal of the season.
After 11 tense minutes, McKibben found the equalizer.
The senior MAC Hermann Trophy candidate collected a field-length pass from rookie goalkeeper
Abbey Collins (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville), dribbled across the face of the goal and tapped the ball home from five yards out for her Northeast Conference-leading 10th tally of the season.
The Stat Meter ticked even more decisively in SFU's favor in the 74th minute when Walter recorded the go-ahead goal. The junior took a pass from
Ellie Gavin (Hilliard, Ohio/Bishop Watterson), turned, and drilled a 40-yard rocket into the twine.
Just five minutes later, McKibben's slow-roller into the right corner gave the Red Flash breathing room and cemented its ninth-straight win over Robert Morris.
Saint Francis (8-6-1; 4-0-0) wound up with a 21-to-13 edge in shots and a 12-to-2 advantage in corner kicks. RMU's Kristie Hamilton had a game-high seven shots.
Collins made nine stops on the afternoon to raise her record to 5-0-0. Her counterpart, Chelsea de Jager, finished with nine saves.
SFU hits the road on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match at Central Connecticut.
